Celebrity Announces New River Cruises
Celebrity has announced entry into the European River Cruise market with two sleek new ships that will start sailing in late 2027. Celebrity plans to offer 33 7-night Rhine and Danube River itineraries aboard the new luxury River vessels the Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker.
Ports of call will include stops in The Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary. Celebrity promises that their River ships will be extremely well appointed. Every stateroom includes a king-size bed, spa-style bathroom, and spacious layouts “designed for the way you really travel”. Celebrity ships will include a first for river cruises- cabins with skylights. Suite guests will receive a host of amenities including dedicated butler service, dedicated dining, laundry service and other perks. Each ship will accommodate around 180 passengers which will place them on the larger size of river cruise ships.
The itineraries will be all inclusive including drinks, wifi, an excursion in each port plus dining with the ability to purchase upgrades.
Celebrity has also pledged that their Captain’s Club Loyalty Program will extend to River. Ultimately, Celebrity wants to have integration between Ocean and River to allow travelers to experience both experiences on linked itineraries.
Initial reception for these new has been extremely positive- pre-book access to 2027 sailings opened and sold out the same day.
In addition to the two ships launching in 2027, Celebrity will add four more ships in 2028, and four more in 2029. Celebrity eventually plans to have a presence on all major rivers in Europe.
